HighEdWebDev 2007

Greetings from Rochester, NY! This is my second year attending HighEdWebDev a conference for web professionals in Higher Education. I’m getting ready to sit through my last session of the conference and I’ve been quite happy with the quality of sessions this year. I’ve unexpectedly found myself not attending any sessions in the Usability track for once, rather I’ve been in more Social Applications and Content sessions and sessions on Marketing, Management and Professional Development. Anyway – the most disappointing this is that I’m the only one from WVU OIT here. WVU Web Services only sent one person this year becasue he’s presenting, but they do have a university presidential inauguration to prepare for, so that is understandable. There a several groups at OIT, however, which would benefit greatly by sending someone to this. Our programmers and sys admins, my boss and any of or all of the training group would get a lot out of this. I have attended several web design conferences, so it’s hard to surprise me with new info anymore. These other groups though, don’t focus on the quality of web development as much as they should, but they all work with it even if their titles are not specifically “web-related.”

Anyway…the last presentation is starting now, so I’m going to log off and listen.
