Well faithful readers…what have I been up to. Lots of stuff happening this time of year.
Well, August 25 was my 32nd birthday. It was a fun time. I wanted to go to Hibachi Japanese Steakhouse for dinner that night so I asked a bunch of friends and immediate family to come out with me and help celebrate. It was fun. Kira did better with the chopsticks than I did, I think.
Then this past weekend (Labor Day) was our anniversary, and I made Steve come up with the plans for the day since I tend to decide what kinds of things we do. He decided to drive Kira and I down to Canaan Valley for lunch and a ride on the ski lift. It was a really nice day to be out and it was fun. We ate at the lodge which had a brunch buffet going on. The view from the top of the mountain was really spectacular. It really is a huge valley. It was a bit hazy though. The drive was really nice, though. I enjoy going through these little towns I never get to see like Thomas and Davis. I can’t remember ever going through Parsons before, but we went back that way and I thought it looked like a nice little town. It really isn’t that far away, but it is a nice change of pace. The windmills in Tucker County are also really cool. I don;t know why people get so upset about them. I think they look awesome. I would much rather see those than coal power plant smoke in the distance or cell phone towers. They are really impressive…and I thought they were really quiet.
Yesterday we went to my dad’s for a labor day get together, which was fun. My sister and her husband were there, my brother Noah and family friends, Tom and Pat came by too. It was a nice afternoon. Kira was ornery and entertaining as usual.
Two weeks ago I also started teaching my class for the WVU School of Journalism again. This will be the fourth year I’ve taught. It is a lot to manage, but the class is always interesting. By that I mean getting to see what the students some up with design-wise.
That’s all for now…have to go teach that class.
