The Police: Live in Concert

Steve and I were fortunate enough to get to see the Police Saturday night at Chruchill Downs in Louisville, KY. We were 11 rows back from the stage in the middle, so we had and excellent view. The best seats I’ve ever had at a concert. It was a great show and we had a great time. Steve is a huge Police fan and didn’t get to see them in the 80’s, so this really made his night. I thought they played fantastically and it really didn’t seem to me that they’d not been playing together all these years. I guess there were about 35,000 people there and it was a really nice venue. The weather cooperated too, which was lucky. I think my favorite song they did was King of Pain. I was really looking forward to Roxanne, but I think it was actually kind of overshadowed by most of their other songs. The light show was also excellent and probably better from farther back. It’s the best I’ve seen at a show – which isn’t saying much because I haven’t been to many, but it was really awesome.

Here is a story about the show: The Police thrill crowd in Louisville (Photo by Kylene Lloyd)

Sting’s son’s (Joe Sumner – click for photo) band FictionPlane opened for them and they were really good as well. He sounds a lot like his dad.

We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel near the airport and it was really nice too. The beds were really comfy.

Overall it was just a really nice time and I’m really happy Steve and I could go and have fun.

Kira had a great time at home visiting with “Faffie” and “Papa” (steve’s mom and dad). I don’t think she missed us at all!
